Cesur's Story: The Rebirth of an Abandoned Friend

A Dog Waiting in an Empty Yard

During our neighborhood searches in Antakya after the earthquake, we found a dog waiting in the yard of an abandoned house. His owners had been evacuated after the earthquake — Cesur had been left behind.

He was thin, his ribs countable, but in his eyes there was still trust, expectation. As if he were certain his owners would return. When we approached, he wagged his tail — despite all that suffering, his trust in people hadn't been shaken.

When I first saw Cesur, he was sitting in front of the door, waiting. He didn't know no one was coming. In that moment, my heart broke.

A Slow but Steady Recovery

The veterinary check found no serious health problem — aside from malnutrition and a mild parasite infection. This showed that Cesur had a naturally strong constitution.

With regular feeding, vitamin supplements, and plenty of love, he recovered quickly:

  • First week — regular meals and clean water, parasite treatment
  • Second week — he began gaining weight, his energy increased
  • Third week — he was neutered and his vaccinations were completed

Where Is He Now?

Cesur is now in our permanent care and the most loyal visitor to our feeding points. Every morning he arrives at the same time, wagging his tail to greet the team.

His story taught us something: being abandoned isn't the end. A new beginning is always possible.

Meet Cesur and our other animals.
