Why Is Spaying and Neutering So Important?
The Harsh Reality of Numbers
An unspayed female cat can give birth on average 3 times a year, with 4–6 kittens each time. That means 12–18 new kittens a year — from just one cat.
Uncontrolled reproduction leads to a rapid increase in the stray animal population. A growing population means:
- More hunger and malnutrition
- Faster spread of disease
- High mortality rates among kittens
- Fights and injuries between animals
Spaying just one cat can prevent more than 200 kittens from ending up on the street within 5 years. This is an act of saving lives.
Our Approach
All animals in our care are spayed or neutered. But we don't stop there — we also bring stray animals we encounter at our feeding points into our sterilization program.
So far, we have sterilized 15 animals. Our goal is to grow this number every month. Together with our veterinary team, we plan regular sterilization days.

Sterilization costs:
- Cats: between ~€9 and ~€14
- Dogs: between ~€14 and ~€21
You can cover the sterilization cost of a specific animal as a sponsor. After the operation, photos and the veterinary certificate will be sent to you.
